Character: A boy who becomes the protagonist's first friend in the Alola region.
Grandson of Hala, the Giver of the First Island.
Although those around him have high hopes that he will take over as the Trainer, he himself is not very keen on this. In fact, he prefers to avoid the topic. This is because his grandfather was so amazing that he has no confidence in himself as a Trainer. Instead, he has a strong desire to bring out the best in his Pokemon. He has been watching his grandfather's Pokemon battles since he was a child, and was fascinated by the way Pokemon used their moves, and longed to be like them. The main reason he participated in the Island Festival (island hopping) was to learn powerful moves from the Trainers in each area and bring out the potential of his Pokemon and use them to their full potential. Since he has no confidence in himself, asking his Pokemon to try hard is a kind of compensation, but he is unaware of this. Perhaps Hara realizes this, as he does not teach his grandson anything about being a Trainer. As a result, he respects the protagonist for his incredible abilities, but also feels pathetic about himself. Outside of Pokémon battles, he is cheerful and easygoing.
Although he is very curious, he sometimes shows signs of lack of confidence and timidity.
His way of speaking also suggests a laid-back, easygoing feeling.
Perhaps because he has been playing in nature since he was a child (under the protection of his grandfather Hara),
or perhaps because he has been using the PokéFinder due to his father's influence,
he has an excellent sense for sensing the presence of Pokémon.
When he senses a presence, he is intrigued and goes in that direction without thinking,
so the Island Festival tends to proceed at a slow pace with many roundabouts.
Some people say that this is a sign of his greatness as the grandson of the one who bestows it upon him,
but to his neighbor, it is just a word that he cannot accept at face value.
Not only can he sense presence, but he can also somehow sense strength.
This is a skill he has developed since he was a child, watching the high-level battles (Pokémon battles, Alola sumo) that his grandfather Hara puts on.
He is always hungry.
He nibbles on nuts and fruits that he finds while traveling around the island.
He greets people by asking them if they want to eat some fruit and handing them the fruit he has.
He has high physical abilities, but in Alola, many people live in nature,
and do not realize how great he is.
While he values the guardian deity of the island and the remaining customs,
he is also familiar with gadgets such as the Trainer Manager.
He has a personality that can enjoy both new and old eras.
Regarding Pokemon battles,
he lost confidence in himself due to unnecessary comparisons with his grandfather and the protagonist,
but after the Island Festival and training outside Alola,
he realized that the person he was competing with and the person he should surpass was himself,
he faced the protagonist with confidence. This shows that he has the potential to surpass the bestower,
who is only found on the island, and even his grandfather.
This Trainer can be found in these Collections:
