Name origin: boulder + bulldog
The original design for Bouldog was similar to a shiba inu! The name and design mismatch bothered me a bit. It used to have a big rock lodged on its tail, too, that it would launch as a spinning attack. Those sort of things are very hard to convey on a static sprite — and sometimes I feel its better to just drop them. I tried many times before landing on something that i feel is a great transition between Pubble and Vinagruff. Going off the Rock Head ability, I decided to shape its head into a little rock flatcap hat, It's meant to give it a sort of earnest, old timey bully sort of vibe.
